Santa Paula News
New Queen Palm trees will soon appear along Harvard Boulevard. The council approved the tree replacement project budget at the December 5, 2005 meeting. A majority of the project funding was carried by state and federal transportation monies; the city’s match is 13.82 percent of the estimated $123,000 to purchase and plant the trees. Approximately 155 Queen palm trees will be planted along Harvard Boulevard from Peck Road to 12th Street, and along Palm Avenue from Highway 126 to Harvard Boulevard. Construction for the trees has been well underway the past few weeks. Tree wells in the concrete sidewalk areas targeted for the trees will feature a metal angle frame and protective grates.
