Ernesto Gonzalez

Date of Birth:

September 25, 1956

Ernesto Gonzalez, age 59, passed away on Saturday, May 21st, 2016 at his residence in Santa Paula, CA. He was under hospice care for an advanced cancer.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 11th, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 604 Ojai Road, Santa Paula, CA, with gravesite dedication to follow immediately at Pierce Brothers Cemetery. There is no viewing due to his remains being cremated.

Ernesto was born on September 25th, 1956, in Weslaco, Texas. His family moved to California in 1958, as his parents left agricultural work for factory work in Los Angeles. Ernesto came to Santa Paula in 1970 to live with his grandmother, Soledad Rodriquez, and attend Santa Paula Union High School. In 1996, after several years away, Ernesto returned to Santa P-aula to recover from a serious illness at his parent’s home. Over the years Ernesto filled several employment positions, the most recent being a certified federal income tax preparer. His professional services helped hundreds of local Santa Paula residents and small business owners meet their tax obligations.

His interests included popular music, politics, and collectibles. He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 2001 and was called to be the local congregation’s financial clerk. His meticulous attention to detail and accounting principles always passed the scrutiny of periodic audits for accuracy. Ernesto’s integrity, loyalty to Christ, to family and friends, and service in his church were at the core of his values. He is deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Ernesto is preceded in death in 2007 by his father Ramon, and in 2008 by his mother Angela Gonzalez, both of whom are buried at Santa Paula.

He is survived by: his daughter Ramona Perla Gonzalez of Santa Paula; his daughter Heather Gonzalez of Texas; his brother Alfred Gonzalez of West Los Angeles, CA; his sister Dora Maria Gonzalez (husband Paul Carlson) of Santa Cruz, CA; two nieces, Tonaneyotzin Gonzalez-Carlson of Santa Cruz, CA, and Andrea Gonzalez-Carlson of Tel-Aviv, Israel; an aunt Placida Ramirez of Santa Paula, as well as numerous cousins.
