Raquel R. Perez
Raquel R. Perez, died on Monday May 30, 2016, in her home in Santa Paula, California and in the company of her loved ones. Our beautiful angel and gentle soul went to be with the Lord on Memorial Day, a befitting day for someone who will be remembered and missed by so many. A devoted wife to her beloved husband, Matilde Perez, of 56 years she is once again reunited with him in heaven for all eternity.
Known for her ease in frequent conversation even with total strangers, she developed friendships with many in her community. Even as a child she possessed a contagious smile and an entertaining sense of humor. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even to this day are witness of her constant nurturing love and faith. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and joking playful nature, will never be forgotten.
Raquel and Matilde raised their 7 children in Santa Paula, California. Possessing a true servant’s heart, Raquel faithfully nurtured family and friends with delicious cooking, provided care in time of illness, and loving support. She lovingly knitted beautiful pieces that she gifted to family, friends, and her doctors with a proud quiet smile. A woman of faith and the heart of the Perez family, Raquel shaped their spirituality by her tireless Christian example, and also through daily prayer and devotion to her Catholic religion. With a real zest for life, Raquel loved to chat with friends and family, tend to her garden, and travel to her childhood home in El Bajio de San Jose Jalisco, Mexico.
Her surviving family members are numerous, but include:
Mother of 7 Children & Spouses: Manuel and Maria Magdaleno, Sergio and Maria Esther Perez, Agustin and Gale Perez, Tomas and Rosa DeAnda, Raymond and Nita Perez, Edward and Laura Perez, and Marco and Araceli Perez.
Grandmother to 15: Bianca, Olivia, Manuel, and Jacquelyn Magdaleno, Erik Perez, Alex and Daniel Perez, Ricky and Erika DeAnda, Ashley, Leslie, Emily, and Edward Perez, Rachel and Sebastian Perez.
Great Grandmother to Kane Lucas Magdaleno
Immediate family: Four surviving siblings and spouses: Agustin and Raquel Romo, Ester Cuellar, Salvador and Maria Mercedes Magdaleno, Jose and Maria Concepcion Rangel; Cousin and life-long friend Luz Maria Aleman
Other family members and friends: Unfortunately too many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, God-children and friends to list or even count.
The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support in many heart-felt forms from too many people to name individually, but including: The Agustin Romo family for everything. Estela and Jesus Garcia for leading daily prayers, Maria Luz Aleman for her life-long and unlimited love, loyalty, support, and friendship, and family and friends for their prayers and visits. A special thank you to Connie Jaimes for her unwavering and compassionate love, humor and support as she cared for our beloved mother during her final weeks.
This is the Obituary written by her children in honor of our dearest Mother. It is our tribute to her memory, which will be carried on in the legacy of love, which is now in each of us – the lives she formed and touched by her love.
A recitation of the rosary will be held at 7:00pm on Monday June 6, 2016 at Saint Sebastian Catholic Church 235 N. 9th Street, Santa Paula. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday June 7, 2016 at Saint Sebastian Catholic Church 235 N. 9th Street, Santa Paula with Father Pasquale Vuoso C.R.I.C. officiating Interment will follow at Santa Paula Cemetery.
