“That dog,” he said of the famed Rin Tin Tin, “could do anything!”
So can Django, from catching bad guys to frolicking with kids, the latter a great way for children to learn early that police are friends and helpers.
The cost of the hats and polo shirts are $25 each; hoodies are $32 each and T-shirts and tanks are $18 each.
All proceeds benefit the SPPD K-9 Unit.
Orders can be made at the Santa Paula Police Station (214 S. 10th St.) or at the Santa Paula Times (120 Davis St.). Checks are payable to Santa Paula Police & Fire Foundation (or SPP&FF) and please put K-9 shirt on the memo line.
Remember: there will be a limited number of shirts for sale at tonight’s April 27 SPPD K-9 Spaghetti Dinner, only $15 each for adults, $5 for kids 12 and younger and $15 takeout (no takeout available for children).
The celebration starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Community Center (corner of Main Street and Steckel Drive) with dinner until 7 p.m. when the exciting program starts. The program will honor retired K-9 Zak and his partner former SPPD Sgt. Larry Johnson and see what’s new with K-9 Ace and his partner Senior Officer Allen Macias as well as introduce Django and Gosselin to diners.
There will plenty of raffles along with a special dinner of spaghetti and meatballs, salad, garlic bread and ice cream sandwiches for dessert. And be sure to take home a plush K-9 puppy and centerpiece decorated dog bowl filled with succulents, only $10 each.
