Carlos Martinez Prado 

Carlos Martinez Prado, with his beloved wife by his side, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2016. A lifetime Santa Paula resident, Carlos was born to Juan and Domi Prado on November 3, 1944, in Santa Paula, California. He was the fourth youngest of his family of two brothers and one sister. Carlos attended elementary and middle school in Santa Paula, and graduated from Santa Paula High School in 1962. He attended Ventura College before beginning work with General Motor’s.

Carlos was called to the Vietnam War where he served from 1965 to 1967 with Honorable discharge in 1971. He was recognized with a Medal for Service in Vietnam and a Medal for Expert Rifleman. 

In 1992, he retired with a total of 28 years of service with General Motors. After his retirement, he spent time with his wife, Phyllis, and family, including their six beautiful grandchildren. 

He is preceded in death by his father Juan and his mother Domi, his sister Nieves who passed away in 1941. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Phyllis. Marc Prado his son, and daughter-in-law, Jessie, of Santa Paula, California; his daughter, Brenda Marquez, and his son-in-law Isaac, of Santa Paula, California. He is survived by his loving grandchildren; Marc Anthony Prado, Jessie Prado, Devine Prado, Ileah Marquez, Judah Prado and Iliana Marquez. He is also survived by his brothers Benny Rodriquez and wife Marylou of Thousand Oaks, California and his brother Robert Rodriquez of Santa Paula, California. And numerous nephews and nieces. 

A Rosary will be recited on Monday, January 11, 2016 at 11:00 am, with Mass to follow at Skillin-Carroll Mortuary, 738 East Santa Paula Street, Santa Paula. Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm at Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery.
