Two men, one a Santa Paula resident, were arrested Friday in connection with a gang-related robbery last month in Thousand Oaks, a Ventura County Sheriff’s Office spokesman said.

On November 15 about 10 p.m., a male adult and male juvenile were walking in their apartment complex near Warwick Avenue when two men later identified as Reyshawn Martin, 21 and Dennis Coleman, 19, approached them.

Martin, a resident of Thousands Oaks and Santa Paula resident Coleman accused the victims of being gang members and, according to the VCSO,  “identified themselves as gang members from Ventura, possibly in an attempt to further intimidate the victims.”

During the confrontation, the adult victim was pushed against a wall while the suspects searched for valuable property in his possession. Two cell phones were stolen from the victim.

Through the use of video surveillance cameras and other investigative techniques, detectives with the Thousand Oaks Police Special Enforcement Unit and East County Major Crimes Bureau were able to identify Martin and Coleman as the suspects in this crime.

Detectives acted as quickly as possible to get the suspects in custody.

On November 25, a search warrant was served at Martin’s residence where evidence linking him to the crime was located.

On the morning of December 4, detectives with the Special Enforcement Unit arrested Martin in the City of Thousand Oaks. Later the same afternoon, SEU arrested Coleman in Santa Paula.

Martin and Coleman were both arrested for suspicion of robbery and street terrorism/gang crimes. They were booked into the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility and are being held on $100,000 bail pending a December 8 court appearance.
