Services will be held October 29, 2015. Mass will be held at St. Martha Catholic Church, 37200 Whitewood Rd., Murrieta, Ca. at 10:00 am. Followed by burial at Riverside National Cemetery. 22495 Van Buren Blvd. March Air Reserve Base at 12:00 noon.

Gilbert Coronado Sr.

Gilbert Coronado Sr. , after a brief illness with cancer, passed away at the VA Hospital in Long Beach, Ca. on October 7, 2015 at the age of 80. Gilbert was born and raised in Santa Paula and graduated from Santa Paula High in 1954. Gilbert was very active in sports and participated in track, gymnastics in high school and years later played on the Chino’s Market softball team. Gilbert served two years in the Army and while stationed in Japan hiked to the summit of Mt. Fuji, Japan’s highest mountain, three times. Gilbert married the love of his life Adelaida Gutierrez and together they had three sons. Gilbert worked for Shakey’s Pizza Corp for over ten years, managing the North Eastern states territory and opening the first Shakey’s in Mexico and the Philippines. Gilbert later acquired his own Shakey’s franchise and successfully operated a Shakey’s Pizza Parlor in Los Alamitos, Ca for 30 years before he retired. Gilbert loved his work, watching his son’s play sports and most of all going to USC Trojan football games even when the Trojans played out of state. Gilbert lived a positive life and felt truly blessed that he was able to enjoy his two young grand-daughters.
Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents, Ignacio Coronado and Domitila Perez, his wife Adelaida, brothers, Ignacio and David. He is survived by his son, Gilbert Jr.(Lorraine) and their daughters, Brooklyn and Jaclyn, Temecula; son Gary, Houston, TX; son Rodney, Indio; sister Connie Rios, Moorpark; brother Alfonso Perez, Ventura; sister Susan Perez, MA.; sister Esther Perez, Los Angeles; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He will be loved and missed by all that knew him.
