The Ventura County Board of Supervisors is taking its act on the road to Santa Paula Tuesday for a special session to be held at City Hall.

The October 13, 6 p.m. meeting will be held in the City Council Chambers with Supervisor Kathy Long, who also represents Santa Paula, at the helm as board chair.

Area Boy Scout Troop #304 will lead the Pledge of Allegiance and the Reverend Jenny Crosswhite — also a Santa Paula City Councilwoman — will offer a moment of inspiration.

Public comment on non-agenda items will follow, an opportunity for Santa Paulans unable to attend regular supervisor meetings — held weekly starting in the morning at the Ventura County Government Center — to address issues that concern them.

The special meeting will have a local slant with presentations on the Steckel Park Aviary and a resolution recognizing the Santa Paula Chamber of Commerce on its 100th Anniversary of “Being In Business For Business.”

There will also be a presentation on healthcare services provided in Santa Paula and the Santa Clara River Valley. Another presentation will focus on the Watershed Protection District and activities of the Army Corps of Engineers related to work on Santa Paula Creek.

An update on Public Safety Realignment Implementation — the early release of prisoners — will also be given.

The board will consider almost doubling funds for mental health outreach and engagement services with Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish from $51,500 to $101,500 as well as authorizing the purchasing agent to extend the contract for two, one-year periods.
