Grace Thille Elementary School Accelerated Reader Program
Grace Thille Elementary School held a school-wide assembly to kick-off its Accelerated Reader Program which is a motivational reading program designed to motivate readers and build literacy for students. Students read books and take comprehension quizzes to earn reward points. The students accumulate points and turn them in to the Library Assistant for prizes. There was a book give away which awarded about 40 students with free books! Students have the opportunity twice a year to earn pizza and ice cream with the principal, Mary Doane. Point certificates are displayed on the cafeteria bulletin boards to recognize student achievement and motivate students to keep on reading! The fifth grader students led the school in a school chant about reading while holding up letters that spelled: “READ BOOKS.”
