A Santa Paula woman was ordered to stand trial in connection with a shooting incident in July that sent five people—including those that had just exited a party bus—to the hospital, including one of the alleged shooters.

Following her preliminary hearing in a Ventura County Superior Court September 8 Karina Munoz, 23, remains free on bail.

She is scheduled to return to court in October to be arraigned on attempted murder charges.

The incident occurred in the early morning hours of July 18 on Ojai Road and High Street in Santa Paula when a party bus filled with 40 to 50 people dropped the group, which had visited Universal City, off at the corner at about 2:47 a.m.

A confrontation escalated and shots were fired, wounding five people including one of the alleged shooters, Eric Medrano, 22, of Santa Paula.

Neighborhood residents reported hearing numerous shots fired and screaming at the scene described as chaotic by police and Santa Paula Fire EMTs had difficulties treating the wounded due to the hysteria of some in the crowd.

One person was critically injured but all—men between the ages of 20 and 35—have been released from the hospital.

Medrano has been arrested numerous times in the past on weapons and gang related charges.

Medrano is also facing attempted murder charges and remains in jail on bail of $1.3 million. He is due back in court on September 18.
