At least three different law enforcement agencies are trying to sort out an incident involving a possibly stolen vehicle and stabbing in Santa Paula Saturday afternoon after a crash on Highway 126.

The September 5 incident occurred at about 4:50 p.m. when the California Highway Patrol received a report of a vehicle that had crashed on the westbound Highway 126 near Peck Road.

Before CHP Officers arrived on scene they learned that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Fillmore. When they found the car it had been abandoned.

The CHP was then notified that a man had shown up at the Santa Paula Police Station on South 10th Street to report he had been stabbed by one of two males who had stolen the vehicle. The man told investigators he had been involved in the accident and fled after an occupant of the stolen vehicle threatened him with a knife but he had escaped without injury.

Meanwhile, a CHP Officer spotted one of the suspects on foot in the area of Santa Maria Street and Palm Avenue and took him into custody at gunpoint.

There was a report that the second suspect was last seen on foot in the area of Highway 126 at the Edwards over-crossing midway between Santa Paula and Ventura.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department is also involved in the investigation of the incident.
