Many people think of the fashions of the 60s as love beads, peace signs, headbands and tie-dye but there was more depending on what scene you were making.

And you’ll want to make the scene at Moonlight at the Ranch IX: “Groovy 60s!” the September 12 celebration of the decade where you had to be there or be square wherever you were!

The latest in the famed Moonlight at the Ranch parties, each year benefiting the Santa Paula Police & Fire Department, will again be held at historic Limoneira Ranch.

Tickets are only $65 each—limited prepaid reserved tables of 10 are only $750—for this night (5:30 to 11 p.m.) of psychedelic revelry where you can don a Nehru jacket and Beatles wig, dig out your favorite tie-dyed shirt, go for the “Mad Men” advertising executive look or their sexy “assistants”, wear a leather headband and paisley bellbottoms or just come as your casual self for a night of great fun.

Enjoy tasty “munchies” and a no-host cocktail party in Strawberry Fields Forever Park before grooving on to the main “Happening” in the courtyard of Limoneira headquarters where there will be more no-host bars and delicious tastings offered by dozens of the region’s finest restaurants.

The party promises to be a real “Hullabaloo” of fun, whether you’re into “The Dating Game” or come as happily married and still oh-so-attracted to each other Morticia and Gomez of the famed “Adams Family” hit TV show.

But what would the 60s be without the sounds that changed the musical world? Sound Effect Band and Ventura County’s most popular DJ Bruce Barrios will be blasting the tunes that made the 60s famous for its music, from The British Invasion to “Purple Haze” Jimmy Hendricks and other danceable tunes ready for rocking out!

Raffles and other surprises will only add to the fun of this year’s Moonlight celebration, Ventura County’s signature event. Memories are made each year at Moonlight, the county’s most famous and unique adults-only celebration.

Moonlight is so much fun that its organizers at times almost forget the party is staged to benefit the Santa Paula Police & Fire Foundation.

“We are proud that Moonlight has a famed reputation of being so enjoyable that as soon as one is over our guests start asking what we’ll do next year,” said Moonlight Co-Chair Debbie Johnson. “It’s important that our guests enjoy themselves at our celebration that benefits the nonprofit Santa Paula Police & Fire Foundation.”

Proceeds from each Moonlight provides quality public safety services and valuable programs to the Santa Paula community through formally submitted grant requests that reflect needs of the cash-strapped police and fire departments.

“Police and fire both benefit with Moonlight funding used for equipment and programs that enhance public safety,” said Co-Chair Leslie Cornejo, who with Johnson serves on the Santa Paula Police & Fire Foundation Board of Directors.

“But we couldn’t have Moonlight without our generous sponsors and those restaurants that supply the best tastings in Ventura County!” said Johnson.

Sponsors include the event’s host Limoneira Co.: “They deserve ongoing kudos for allowing us to hold our annual Moonlight at their historic ranch,” said Cornejo. “It’s the perfect place for our outdoor celebrations … ”

And, said Johnson, “Each year our famed Santa Paula weather has provided perfect temperatures for a wonderful evening of fun under the light of the moon.”
