No one injured when shots fired at home occupied by 12

Santa Paula Police are looking for the suspects in a drive-by shooting Sunday evening in the 300 block of Sycamore Street where a resident came out with a gun and returned fire.
No one was injured during the incident, according to Santa Paula Police Sgt. Cody Madison.
The August 9 incident was reported at approximately 10:27 p.m. when “officers responded to the 300 block of Sycamore Street,” between East Santa Paula and Saticoy streets, “for a report of shots fired.”
When SPPD Officers arrived on scene they located a house that had “several bullet strikes…officers contacted the 12 subjects residing in the home,” including said Madison, a 79-year-old man and seven children ranging in age from 11 to 15 years old.
Investigators were told that a brown sedan with “an unknown number of subjects” riding in it fired numerous rounds into the residence, striking the structure several times but not hitting anyone inside.
“One of the occupants then exited the residences armed with a pistol,” and returned fire.
Madison said the suspects in the brown sedan then fled turning westbound onto Santa Paula Street.
The investigation is ongoing and Madison said anyone with information about the incident should contact Detective Shane Norwood, 805-525-4474 x 287.
