Edison International continues its partnership with the Santa Paula Police and Fire Foundation (SPPFF) with a $1,500 grant to help support the foundation’s Community Public Safety Awareness and Preparedness Project. This funding will be used with other donations to buy equipment for the Santa Paula Police Department and Santa Paula Fire Department, as well as to assist Police and Fire with materials for community outreach and education programming.

“Southern California Edison has been a constant supporter of the Santa Paula Police & Fire Foundation,” said Fire Chief Rick Araiza, “and an important part of our ability to sustain our community outreach programs and protect the public by helping to fund critical safety equipment.”

He explained that the SPPFF pools together donations such as this to help provide the Police and Fire departments with critical safety equipment and training that are not sustained by the City’s lean budget. “Our community sincerely appreciates this valuable and loyal support,” said Araiza.

With donations from this past year, the SPPFF was able to purchase 10 trauma/medical kits for the Santa Paula Police Department’s SWAT team to utilize in times when medical personnel are unable to enter a scene due to unsafe conditions and ballistic shields to protect our police officers.

This funding has also contributed to the Fire Department’s community outreach programs, such as Hands-Only CPR, which has educated about 225 in town residents this year in how to save lives; and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training, which has educated nearly 1,000 area residents about disaster preparedness for hazards.
