Santa Paula News

California Resources Corporation (CRC) has been a very good neighbor for Santa Paula giving much needed funds to the community.  Once again, CRC is giving and this time it’s in the amount of $5,000 to the Education Department of Santa Paula’s California Oil Museum.   “CRC supports the museum to highlight the oil and gas industries’ contributions to California and our local communities.  STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) programs are key to our industry and supporting STEM initiatives are a key priority for our company”, stated Amy Fonzo, Manager of External Relations for CRC.

Schools from all over Ventura County attend tours and workshops at the California Oil Museum; not only learning about petroleum but also rocks, minerals, fossils, and plate tectonics.  This year alone museum educators have taught over 5,000 students on-site and off-site at events such as science nights, gem and mineral shows and science fair/career expos.

“This donation by CRC is a not only helping preserve a historic place,” said Jeanne Orcutt, Museum Director, “but also supports the best earth science program in California where our local schools can attend these workshops for free.”

The California Oil Museum is located at 1001 E. Main Street in beautiful downtown Santa Paula.  Hours of operation are Wednesday through Friday, 10AM to 4PM.  Admission is Free.  For information on school tours, exhibits and directions see our website at www.caoilmuseum.org.
