Lions Club donates to Meals-on-Wheels
Ken Ary, of the Santa Paula Chapter of Lions Club presents a check for $500 to Kathy Ashby, Manager of Meals-on-Wheels. Lions Club International is the largest service organization in the world.
In addition to their mandate regarding sight and hearing, the Santa Paula chapter provides support for many Santa Paula organizations. Ken arranged for the donation knowing that Meals-on-Wheels needs to raise funds immediately to prevent a reduction in services. He is also challenging other organizations, companies, and individuals to make a donation to Meals-on-Wheels before the end of the year
Meals-on-Wheels is a project of AIM Council of Santa Paula, a local non-profit organization, and has been serving our city since 1974. Meals on Wheels’ mission is to deliver low-cost and no-cost meals to Santa Paula’s homebound and seniors. The organization does not receive government funding of any kind and is 100% dependant on donations from private citizens, civic groups, and businesses to fund its operations. Last year Meals-on-Wheels delivered 3948 meals to the homebound. The organization is on a push to raise funds before the end of the year so that they can maintain current service levels.
