Estella (Salazar) Arellano

Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Aunt Estella Arellano passed away to her Lord at her home on December 5, 2014.  Estella was born on August 22, 1933 at 422 N. Sycamore, Santa Paula, CA.  She resided in Santa Paula all her life.  She was preceded in death by her husband Bennie Arellano, her daughter Melinda Salazar, her parents Guadalupe and Josefa Salazar, her brothers Manuel, David, and Guadalupe Salazar, Jr., and her sister Alice Herrera.

She is survived by her loving step-children, Andrew Arellano (Raquel) of Santa Paula, Elizabeth Reville (Joseph) of Nevada, and Gloria Arellano (Rob)-Simm  of Arizona; her grandchildren Arturo Paz, Francisco Paz, Jessica Garcia, Jesus Garcia, Danny Garcia, Marc Arellano Reville, Milly Delgadillo (Jaime), Victor Rodriguez Arellano (Sonia), Andy Arellano (Annette), and Annette Arellano (Sean)-Hooper.  She is also survived by her sisters Belen Whittenburg (Bill) of Miller, Mo., Ida Mariscal (Eddie) of Imperial Beach, CA, Bonnie Rivera (Benjie) of Santa Paula, CA., and Erma Lamey (Bill) of Palmdale, CA; brothers Joe Salazar of Sparks, NV, Leonard Salazar (Terry) of Santa Clarita, CA, Johnny Salazar (Louisa) of Porterville, CA, and Frank Salazar of Santa Paula, CA; 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She married Bennie Arellano in 1967 and enjoyed 41 years of happiness before his passing.  She enjoyed traveling with her most memorable being her trip to Israel. Estella also enjoyed spending time with her great grandchildren and her numerous nieces and nephews.  She was a devoted Catholic dedicating her life to our Lord Jesus and the Virgin Mary.  She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church where she served as a catechism teacher for many years.  She was also a member of La Guadalupanas and The Servants of the Father of Mercy, who are dedicated to service to the homeless.  

A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Skillin Carroll Chapel.  Rosary will follow at 7:00 PM with her cousins “The Luque Girls” and Guadalupanas participating.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Santa Paula, on Monday, December 15. 2014 at 10:00 AM with Father Charles officiating, burial will follow at Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery.
