A Santa Paula man that already had a court date related to his sentence for a domestic violence charge was arrested on suspicion of probation violations and impersonating another person after arriving at a Santa Clarita hospital with a gunshot wound.

According to Santa Paula Police Senior Officer Allen Macias, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department called the SPPD about 8:30 p.m. Monday, November 3, to the emergency room of Henry Mayo Hospital in Los Angeles County after the 20-year-old Santa Paula man arrived “suffering,” said Macias, “from a gunshot wound to his right hand.

“Anaya at the time of checking in, provided the hospital staff with a false identity,” said Macias.

Hospital staff notified the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department that responded to the hospital and investigated the shooting that Anaya, “alleged occurred somewhere in the vicinity of the 5 Freeway near the City of Santa Clarita.”

No evidence of the shooting was found in the area where Anaya claimed it occurred and once medical staff cleared Anaya, deputies detained him.

Santa Paula Police Gang Detectives then responded to Henry Mayo Hospital and Macias said they took custody of Anaya, “who is currently on Ventura County Probation for various violations including weapons violations, domestic violence violations and gang terms.

“Anaya is a documented gang member from Santa Paula,” who was arrested for suspicion of felony impersonating another person and violating the terms and conditions of his probation.

According to court records Anaya was due in a Ventura Superior Court on November 21 to answer to charges related to his probation violations.

Macias said SPPD Gang Unit Detectives continue to investigate the shooting, which they believe “may have occurred in Santa Paula... “
