Santa Paula Police were investigating a vicious knife assault that occurred Halloween night in the 200 block of West Santa Paula Street that left the juvenile victim with at least nine wounds to his head, shoulder and torso.

According to Detective Cody Madison, a stabbing was reported at about 9:52 p.m. in the area of West Santa Paula Street and Olive Street.

When SPPD Officers arrived on scene they found one male juvenile had been injured.

The teenager, said Madison, “Had been stabbed at least nine times in the head, shoulder and torso,” in an attack police classified as an attempted murder.

Santa Paula Fire EMTs and an ambulance also responded and treated the unidentified victim on scene before he was transported to Ventura County Medical Center, where there is a Trauma Unit.

Madison said the victim is expected to survive the stabbing.

Four juveniles at the scene told police “They were walking along Santa Paula Street near the intersection of Olive Street when they came upon one of their friends sitting nearby and appeared severely intoxicated.” While attempting to help him, Madison said two other male subjects approached them, “who were wearing all black.

“One the subjects brandished a knife and demanded that they empty their pockets.”

Madison said the juveniles were “Concerned for their well-being, so they gave them their valuables. Then, for no reason, the subject with the knife stabbed the one victim at least nine times,” before the suspects fled in an unknown direction.

Those robbed and the stabbing victim has, “No gang involvement whatsoever,” said Madison. “They’re just a bunch of skateboarding kids... “
