A collision Tuesday between an unlicensed driver and another vehicle led to a chain of events that left  the front end of a compact car poking into an auto parts store.

The September 30 accident occurred about 10:45 a.m. according to Santa Paula Police Sgt. Ken Clark.

A red Chevrolet Aveo was traveling north on Palm Avenue when for an unknown reason it collided with a green, southbound Jeep Cherokee, driven by Alonzo Rangel, 45, of Ventura.

“The unlicensed driver of the Aveo,” Teresa Corona de Garcia, 49 of Piru, “accelerated and drove up the northwest corner of the intersection, continued through the parking lot and struck the Auto Zone,” located at the corner of Harvard Boulevard and Palm Avenue.

Clark said, “All parties were shaken up, and there were minor complaints of pain by the occupants of the Aveo,” but after being checked by Santa Paula Fire EMTs no one was transported to the hospital.

“We’re not sure what the extent of the damage was to the Auto Zone,” said Clark.

Fire Chief/Building & Safety Director  Rick  Arazia said damage to the building did not require red-tagging: “ We just checked the damaged electrical and boarded up the window,” the car had crashed into.

“The rest of the building,” he added, “was fine.”
