There are many students of Santa Paula artist Judy Klement who have achieved professional status or been award winners, and some will be featured at a special upcoming art exhibit.

The art will be on exhibit at Blanchard Community Library September 8 - 25 and the public is invited to meet the artists at a special reception to be held on Saturday, September 13.

The reception will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the library, located at 119 N. 8th St.

Artists featured in this unique exhibit include Pamela Salem whose pastel art won her the 2012 Ada Callahan Award at the Ventura County Fair; Eugene Marzec, who since his retirement has studied with Norman Kirk and other well known artists to create in oils. Debbie Patterson, Lorene Solis, and Linda Hagan have all been award winners and are collected by art lovers.

Mike Cossid, who is helping with the exhibit, said, “Luis and Maria Lopez were natives of a small town in Jalisco, Mexico and had the advantage to grow up in artistic families,” and those that attend the exhibit will see for themselves that, “Their works are truly amazing...

“Teacher Judy Klement,” noted Cossid, “is a winner herself. She specializes in pastel landscapes and portraiture. Judy is a member of the Pastel Society of the Gold Coast, Santa Paula Society of the Arts and teaches art for Ventura Adult Continuing Education,” with classes staring in the fall.

Klement also conducts workshops, demos and gives private lessons in various medias.

The exhibit is sponsored by Gonzalez Framing of Ventura; after the September 13 reception consider a visit to La Cabana Restaurant or and Zapparelli’s Pizzeria, also exhibit sponsors.

Blanchard Community Library hours are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, noon to 8 p.m.; Wednesday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The library is closed Friday, Sunday and holidays.
