Santa Paula News

There will be a weekend of great things to do to entertain your family and help the environment while enjoying much of what Santa Paula has to offer this Friday, Saturday and Sunday!

The weekend kicks off with Friday’s Cruise Nite; it will all be about cruisin’ with classic pre-1975 cars parked for blocks and old time rock ‘n’ roll played by the Cruise Knights!

Featured at each September’s Cruise Nite is the Ready Santa Paula emergency preparedness festival where Santa Paula Police and Fire among other public safety personnel will teach Sidewalk CPR, show how the Jars of Life are used to extricate a trapped person and plenty of free safety tips on how to hold it together during an emergency.

Of course Cruise Nite offers plenty of other stops at fine restaurants and fun stores along its stretch between 10th and 7th streets in Downtown historic Santa Paula!

Tickets will also be available to the September 20 Moonlight at the Ranch VIII: “Polynesian Paradise!” where guests will get their Tiki on to benefit the Santa Paula Police & Fire Foundation. Tickets for this adults’ only party are $65 each; limited reserved tables are available. If you miss the Moonlight table call 525-1890 for more information or to order tickets by phone!

Each month a new Cruise Nite T-shirt featuring a regularly displayed car and designed by Wendell Dowling is offered for sale!

Cruise Nite runs from about 5 p.m. to dusk.

Also Friday and just a short block north of Main Street is the Agriculture Museum of Ventura County, where The Delfinos will play rockin’ rhythm and blues from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

The ConFusion Catering food truck will be parked outside (7 to 8:30 p.m.) offering Sushi Roll Tacos, and other great things to eat that can be brought into the air-conditioned museum - located at 926 Railroad Ave. - to enjoy the performance by The Definos.

Admission is $10 general public; $2 child with adult; $5 museum member.

Saturday will be time to do something for the environment and help get rid of hard to dispose of electronics at the recycling event to be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Kmart parking lot, 895 Faulkner Road.

All proceeds from this Electronics Recycling event will benefit C.A.R.L., Canine Adoption Rescue League.

Computers, monitors, cell phones, televisions, MP3 players, ink and toner cartridges, printers, microwaves, cable and wire, ink and toner cartridges, laptops - all electronics! - will be accepted at the event.

Saving all breeds since 1985, the nonprofit C.A.R.L. is a no-kill organization that relies on donations and operates almost entirely by volunteers.

Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. is the First Sunday Open House at Santa Paula Airport!

The main Aviation Museum of Santa Paula and its Chain of Hangars will offer numerous exhibits as well as a detailed history of the airport’s creation, the latter now the focus of the museum’s first permanent building, located at the airport’s entrance.

First Sundays often also feature car clubs and other displays and kids
