Robin Rae Rothermel Brookes
Long time Santa Paula resident, Robin went to be with The Lord on August 25 after a courageous and hard fought battle with cancer. She was born on October 3, 1954 in Ravenna, Ohio. Her family moved to Ventura in 1963. Robin graduated Buena High School in 1973 and graduated Mount Saint Mary’s College with a Bachelor of Music in 1978. She taught music at Glen City School.
She received her teaching credential at Cal State Northridge at Channel Islands in 2002.
Robin loved kids and felt a calling to teach children to read.
She was a long time kindergarten teacher at John Jenkins Christian Academy and taught 1st grade for many years at Blanchard School.
Robin was married to Ken Brookes in 1977 and is survived by him and their son James, his wife Krista and grand daughter Lily, and their other son Matt, his wife Amy and grand daughter Abby and grand son Micah.
Robin is also survived by her parents Barbara and Gerald Rothermel, brother Randy Rothermel and his wife Shelly, 1 niece and 5 nephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Blanchard School for their kindness and generosity, which made Robin’s life at school so pleasant.
