driver involved in hit-and-run

Santa Paula Police are asking for the public’s help in finding the driver who ran down a 36-year-old area woman early Friday morning and then fled, leaving the injured woman in the street.

According to SPPD Sgt. Jimmy Fogata, the August 29 incident occurred about 1:30 a.m. near the intersection of Peck Road and West Harvard Boulevard.

Fogata said police were notified that a vehicle had struck a pedestrian, and “Upon arrival officers located a 36-year-old female down in the crosswalk complaining of moderate injuries.”

Santa Paula Fire EMTs and AMR paramedics also responded to the scene where the victim, identified as Diana Marquez, was treated before being transported to Ventura County Medical Center.

The suspect, said Fogata, “Had fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival,” and was last seen heading eastbound on Harvard Boulevard, “at a high rate of speed... “

“The Santa Paula Police Department is asking for assistance to attempt to locate the driver of the vehicle involved in this collision,” and Fogata said the suspect vehicle was described as a dark blue Toyota Sequoia with tinted windows with a single occupant. 

Noted Fogata, “The vehicle should have damage to the right front quarter panel... “
