A 19-year-old Santa Paula teenager was among those stabbed last weekend at a large party in Fillmore, an incident in an upscale area that left four people injured during a melee that is believed to be gang-related.

According to a Ventura County Sheriff’s Department statement, the fight occurred Saturday, June 21 at 11:57 p.m. in the 800 block of Woodgrove Road in Fillmore.

The Fillmore Police Department, a VCSD substation, was dispatched to the report of a party disturbance on Woodgrove Road near Stonehedge Drive, a residential area west of Central Avenue and north of 4th Street.

According to VCSD Sgt. Anthony Aguirre, numerous callers told 911 Dispatchers that people were fighting in the street; when deputies arrived on scene they found two victims, a male and a female. The rest of the partygoers had scattered.

Both victims found at the scene were 21-year-old residents of Fillmore who deputies determined had been stabbed at the location. The Fillmore Fire Department and an ambulance also responded to the scene.

Both unidentified victims were transported by ambulance to the hospital with moderate to serious injuries.

Aguirre stated that investigators from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau and the Sheriff’s Gang Unit arrived to assist in the investigation and were notified that two additional victims - the Santa Paulan and another resident of Fillmore, 20 - had arrived at area hospitals with stab injuries associated with the disturbance. The hospitals had notified law enforcement they were treating the unidentified subjects who were also interviewed by investigators.

“All four victims involved admitted to being at the party but refused to cooperate with investigators,” said Aguirre, who noted, “The incident is still under investigation and appears to be gang related.
