In addition to the photo contest Sumersille said First Sunday will also feature a fabulous display of cars from four clubs and visitors will be able to select their favorite.
“We’ll have great vehicles from Roamin’ Relics, Porsche Club, Ventura Early Ford V8 and Ventura County Corvette Clubs will be displayed... come on out and vote for your favorite car!”
The First Sunday of each month is where local aviation history comes alive.
The Aviation Museum’s “Chain of Hangars” is open for guests to explore; Hangar Number One tells the history of the founding of Santa Paula Airport in 1930.
“Each of these privately-owned hangars in our Chain houses a variety of vintage aircraft and privately owned collections of various memorabilia which will pique everyone’s interest,” including antiques, classic and experimental aircraft, automobiles, race cars, motorcycles, juke boxes, an enormous antique radio and phonograph collection, paintings, photos, model aircraft and a variety of aviation artifacts.
Sumersille said, “Several other aircraft owners put out their antique aircraft on static display and many vintage aircraft will fly in each month.”
The Young Eagles program for kids 8 - 17 offers free plane rides from EAA Chapter 723. The program - co-founded by the late actor and aviator Cliff Robertson, a Santa Paula Airport hangar owner - was launched nation-wide in 1992 to give interested young people an opportunity to go flying in a general aviation airplane.

Visitors are encouraged to stop by The Museum’s Gift Shop located in Hangar Number Six to receive a map of the hangars and view local artifacts. The Museum also sells T-shirts, hats, aviation related items and all proceeds go to the Museum.
Refreshments are available for purchase and will be catered by the Java Cat and Blue Light Food Truck.
Since 1930, Santa Paula Airport has been widely recognized around the world for its antique, classic and experimental aircraft as well as celebrated for its climate and its friendliness.
The Airport is located at 800 Santa Maria St., between the Palm and 10th Street exits of the 126 Freeway. Rain cancels the event.
