UCSB Women’s Center and its affiliates hosted a STEM focused Tech-Savvy conference for teenage girls on Saturday, March 22 from 10AM-3:30PM. The day featured hands-on activities in addition to speakers, meals, and opportunities to speak with female students actively pursuing careers in STEM. The Boys & Girls Club girls chose from exciting sessions such as: Help Catch a Criminal, Cracking the Genetic Code, Guess your Gestures and Eggscellent Engineering. The Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clara Valley was able to participate through the generosity of both Santa Paula and Fillmore Soroptimists and Roadrunner Shuttle. We thank these organizations for giving our youth an opportunity to experience college life, STEM classes, and encourage and excite them into thinking about a future in higher education and a career in STEM.
