Ricardo “ Richard” Jesus Macias

We are sad to announce that Ricardo “Richard” Jesus Macias, a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend of Santa Paula passed away on March 10, 2014 at the young age of 58 years old.

Born April 17, 1955 in Ventura Ca. to Albaro “Bob” and Maria “Tencha” Macias. Richard spent his childhood growing up in the orchards of Limoneria “800’s” where he had many adventures with his siblings. There was no adventure too big for Richard or any of his brothers and sisters. In his adolescent and young adult hood southern California became his stomping grounds where visiting family in San Diego became a favorite pastime, but never forgetting to return to his hometown of Santa Paula.

Richard’s working career consisted of working for Jaz Products, Ortega Construction, and various offshore oil companies as a roustabout. He retired from the oil field industry and later went into business for himself and his family running a landscaping business (R&R Landscaping). He also enjoyed fixing his own yard, trimming his grass, planting flowers and vegetables, making unique flower pots out of rocks. Richard spent the last 37 plus years with his wife Gloria, a couple who weathered any storm life brought their way, a love that is rare these days. He loved nothing more than being around his family. Richard was a man that always put his family first and always made sure that if you ever came to visit him that he made you feel at home. He loved having family gatherings where he would BBQ and entertain his guest with playing dominoes(Mr. Dominator, Dominology), poker and horse shoes, and watch boxing. He also enjoyed playing the game Pokeno with his siblings. He loved to cook, especially his famous “tacos forever” tacos. He enjoyed seeing his kids play sports. Richard loved the ocean and enjoyed fishing, always trying to catch that big fish. Whenever you needed someone to listen to or receive advice from, Richard was a man who you could turn to. He was a man who truly lived life and had a big heart like no other. One advice he would always give was to not hold grudges, especially with family.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents Albaro and Maria Macias, brothers John Cota, Manuel & Robert Macias, and his beloved son Richard J. Macias Jr. and grandson Noah.

Richard is survived by his wife Gloria Venegas, children; Tonia, Candelario “Jesse”(Dulce), Jessie, Jacob(Ami), Marisa, Angelina and Justin.
