Cortinas
Raymond L. Cortinas, age 78 of Santa Paula, CA passed away at his home on March 1st with his loving wife and children by his side after a lengthy illness. Ray was born on March 15, 1935 in Mexico and had been a 75 year Santa Paula resident.
Ray had worked as a machine operator for Weyerhaeuser for 37 years and retired in 2000. He loved camping in the Sierras and was a great fisherman. Another passion of his was his photography business which he had on the side called Photography by Ray.
“My grandfather was a great man. He was a hardworking family man and he meant the world to me and I will never forget what he has done for me. He fought a long hard battle to the very end and he will be deeply missed by family and friends.” Love You Always Amanda.
Ray is preceded in death by his mother Justina Lopez, his brother Arthur, his sister Margaret, daughter Priscilla and grandson Michael. He is survived by his loving wife Sandra, daughter and son-in-law June & Eddie Teran, daughter Denese, son Ray Eric Cortinas Jr., son and daughter-in-law Joe & Norilyn Cortinas, son Milton Cortinas and his brother Rudy, 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Our family wishes to thank Ray’s caregivers Aucencia Friend and Veronica Llamas as well as Vitas Hospice Care and nurse Denise Olmeda. In Lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation at alzfdn.org.
Visitation will be held from 12:00pm - 9:00pm with a rosary to be recited at 7:00pm, Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Chapel of the Angels, 600 East Pleasant Street, Santa Paula. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am, Friday, March 14, 2014 at Saint Sebastian Catholic Church, 235 North Ninth Street, Santa Paula with Father Pasquale Vuoso, C.R.I.C. Officiating. Committal & Interment will follow at Santa Paula Cemetery.
