Ronnie Dominguez, age 53, passed away on Friday, December 6th at Keck Hospital of USC, surrounded by his family. He had battled a disease called Scleroderma for many years which necessitated a double lung transplant almost nine years ago.
He was born October 13, 1960 in Santa Paula and was a lifelong resident of Ventura County. During his school years he was always involved in sports, especially baseball and football, playing his freshman and sophomore years in high school.
He began working in the grocery business while still in high school and worked his way up from courtesy clerk to meatcutter, but had to retire after 26 years because of his illness. He loved barbequing for his family and friends. Making beef jerky was one of his specialties. He also enjoyed camping with his family, especially at Pismo Beach.
He was always helping others, and made it a priority to provide for his family and loved ones. We will miss his smile and laughter, his teasing and joking. He never complained about being sick and was a fighter to the end, when the Lord called him home.
Ronnie is survived by his wife, Jane, and their children: Katie, April, and Timothy of Camarillo, his sister, Joanne Helton (Troy) of Santa Paula, brothers, Donald Dominguez (Nora) of So. Pasadena, and Gilbert Dominguez, of Santa Paula; his paternal grandmother, Lucy Dominguez, also of Santa Paula, his mother-in-law, Marie Griffin, of Oxnard, and many aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Gilbert, and his mother, Mary (Duran) Dominguez of Santa Paula, and cousin, Danny Moreno of Camarillo.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped Ronnie while he was hospitalized at Keck Hospital of USC and also his primary care doctor, Dr. Bennet Lipper and staff, of Oxnard.
Services will held at 11:oo am on Saturday December 14, 2013 at Conejo Mountain Funeral Home in the Chapel of the Islands. Mr. Dominguez will be laid to rest at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park. Following the service there will be a reception in our Community Room.
