Trustees of the Santa Paula Unified School District said the district logo design, back for a third time, was closer, but still not what they want.
At their last meeting trustees expressed unhappiness with the design and sent it back to the graphic artist for another try. This time the design was closer to what they envisioned, but the board felt it still had problems.
The district held a community competition for the design of the new logo. The entries were narrowed down, with the board selecting the final three. Those drawings, along with input from the board, were given to graphic artist Larry Holt to come up with a final design.
Board President Christina Urias said the latest design was more in line with what they envisioned.
Board member Michelle Kolbeck said the three winning entries had a hometown feel. “What this artist has done is to given us more of a modern look,” she said.
Trustee Diana Ponce-Gomez added, “We’re in the right direction, but it’s not us.”
Board member Chris Wilson said, “I think we’re much, much closer.”
The board decided Kelsey Stewart would represent the board, along with Assistant Superintendent Robin Freeman, in the next meeting with the artist.
