Shirley Lamont
(1929-2013)
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our wife, mother, and grandmother on April 7th. She passed away peacefully at home after a long illness with her family by her side.
Shirley was born and raised in Santa Barbara, California. She was working as an x-ray technician when she met and fell in love with Charles Lamont. They married in 1949 and settled in Santa Paula, where they raised their four children.
Shirley and Chuck shared the love of dancing and spent many years dancing to the sounds of the Big Band music. They also enjoyed traveling and took numerous cruises throughout the world.
Shirley retired in 1994 from manager of Medical Records at Community Memorial Hospital. She was also a member of Santa Paula Ebell Women’s Club for many years, where she served as president for two years.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 64 years, Charles Lamont; daughter Debra Beckfeld (Ken), son Craig Lamont (Pat) and daughter Terri Crawford; sister Janet Catlin and brother James Baker (Selma); nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Brett Lamont.
We would like to give special thanks to her caregiver Marilou, Dr. Michael Tushla, and her hospice nurse Monica for taking such good care of her.
A private service is pending.
