Francisco Rafael Castillo

February 28, 1938-April 26, 2013

It is with much sadness and grief that we accept God’s will to call F. Rafael “Ballo” Castillo to rest.

He was born in Matugeo, Michoacan, Mexico on February 29, 1938 to the union of Francisco Castillo and Maria Heredia. A resident of Santa Paula for 45 years, he was a father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He was preceded in eternal rest by his parents, his sister Asuncion Castillo and brother Celestino Castillo. He is survived by sisters Amparo, Enedina, Pina, Nina and Teresa; brothers Benjamin, Hernesto and Leonardo; his wife Lupe Castillo, daughter Maria Garcia, and sons Gustavo, Valdemar, Luis, Ramon, Cele, Rafael and Jeff, as well as many grandchildren.

Through this world he managed to have countless friends, and he gained the affection of all those who had the opportunity and patience to know him. He was taken from us, fighting until the last moment, as he always did in life. He was a hardworking man with a fighting spirit, good father, good son, good brother, good uncle and above all, a good friend.

“There are gaps that are made to be filled with good memories.”

Virginia was widowed in 1985, and for the last 28 years she looked forward to being reunited with the “love of her life.”  She was beloved by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and siblings.  Virginia was a gentle lady in the fullest sense of the word.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

During the last part of her life, Virginia was fortunate to be given wonderful care by the staff at The Gables, the staff at the Continuing Care Center in Ojai, and Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Hospice Care.  Her family is deeply grateful to all.
