A Santa Paula man on felony parole was arrested in San Luis Obispo County, suspected by Pismo Beach Police Officer to be responsible for numerous thefts between San Luis Obispo and Ventura counties.
Jason Kohr, 31, was arrested in Pismo Beach Thursday, January 5 while, officers said, he was driving a stolen vehicle. Kohr was arrested during a routine traffic stop after officers discovered the vehicle he was driving had been reported stolen.
Police believe Kohr is responsible for a series of vehicle burglaries that had occurred in the weeks leading up to the arrest in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and Ventura counties. Kohr was arrested in the Shell Beach area after Pismo Beach police officers noticed a car window had been smashed and some vehicle doors were ajar.
Inside the vehicle were numerous items, and investigators determined Kohr was in possession of property from numerous reported thefts that included a firearm, surfboards, iPhones, cameras and computers. One of the items found in the car Kohr was driving was a highly valuable custom surfboard reported stolen from Santa Barbara.
Kohr was arrested without incident on suspicion of burglary, felony auto theft, possession of stolen property, possession of a concealed firearm by a felon, possession of a controlled substance and possession of burglary tools, according to police. Kohr is already on felony parole for auto theft. He is now being held in San Luis Obispo County jail on $70,000 bail.
