In the current issue of U.S. News & World Report, Thomas Aquinas College is ranked as the third most popular liberal arts college in the country based on its “yield” - the percentage of applicants accepted by a college who end up enrolling at an institution in the fall.
Only the U.S. Naval Academy and U.S. Military Academy outrank this 4-year, Catholic school.
In its report entitled “Most Popular Schools”, U.S. News explains, “If a school has a high yield (a large proportion of those admitted enroll), it means that the school is most likely very popular with a top reputation and that the students are highly motivated to go there.” On the other hand, it continues, “A very low yield means that school could be a ‘safety’ or second choice for many of those who apply.”
Rankings are based on figures from the fall 2008 entering class. Thomas Aquinas College’s acceptance rate was 64% and its yield was 68%. For the full report, see: http://www-origin.usnews.com/articles/education/best-colleges/2010/03/05/most-popular-schools-liberal-arts-colleges.html
