A brief foot pursuit Friday evening ended with the arrest on a variety of charges of a Santa Paula man who discarded weapons as he ran, and the arrest of a Camarillo woman not related to the initial incident but found in the area and suspected of being under the influence of drugs.
According to Santa Paula Police Lieutenant Troyce Reynolds, the incident occurred at about 11:20 p.m. when Senior Officer Hector Ramirez was on patrol in the 300 block of Dartmouth. Ramirez attempted to stop two subjects walking in the area, but one man refused to stop and, said Reynolds, “ran toward a backyard in the area.”
As he ran the man discarded an old Colt .380 and almost new S&W 40 caliber pistol. After a brief foot pursuit Angel Aguirre, 31, of Santa Paula, was located and taken into custody.
Reynolds said Aguirre was arrested “for various violations,” including suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a loaded firearm, possession of a stolen firearm and resisting arrest. Aguirre was transported to Ventura County Jail.
“Also located in the area, but not related to the incident, was April Brown,” a 29-year-old resident of Camarillo, who Reynolds said was “found to be under the influence of a controlled substance” and arrested for suspicion of same.
