By Peggy KellySanta Paula TimesWith the rising cost of prescription drugs, there’s now a free discount Rx card for individuals and families that everyone, and they mean everyone, is eligible for. Supervisor Kathy Long recently discussed the new program at a Santa Paula Rotary Club meeting, noting prescriptions represent the highest overall cost of healthcare.“This discount program,” she noted, “is a private public partnership” known as the Coast2Coast Rx Card that Ventura County is now participating in. The pre-activated, ready-to-use card will bring up to a 65 percent discount on prescription medications at participating pharmacies.“There’s no paperwork to fill out” and, noted Long, no limits on usage. Everyone - individuals and families - is accepted, and there are no health condition restrictions.
In addition, Long said there is no fee ever charged for the card, which is a benefit provided by Ventura County and participating pharmacies to help people save on their prescriptions. Card users will save on brand name drugs, generic drugs and on drugs not covered by other plans. The plan is not insurance and easy to take part in: to locate a participating pharmacy, for drug prices, to print a card or for more information, visit the Coast2Coast Rx website, www.coast2coastrx.com/venturaca or call 1-800-931-8872.“We are very concerned that so much of a household’s income can be spent on prescription medication,” and Long said the new program is “definitely a winner that we want everyone to participate in. It’s free, and it’s easy!”
