Harry Lomison Malette

A man full to the brim with life, love and vision passed away after a short illness on May 6, 2009 in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was born in Monmouth, Illinois on December 4, 1940 and, like his beloved cats, lived many lives.

He honorably served in the United States Army from 1959-1961, before applying his entrepreneurial spirit to businesses ranging from aviation and sales to automotive technology. A longtime Santa Paula businessman, he owned and operated Harry’s Car Care for many years. He will be remembered for his love of a challenge, wild enthusiasm, colorful stories and infectious laugh.

He is survived by his best friend, wife and partner of 43 years, Joan, daughters Beverly (Greg) Martinez and Leslie (Robert) Spero, and son Steven. Grandpa Harry will be missed by his grandchildren Brittany, Haley, Nicholas, Ross and Victoria, and great-grandson Brenden. Also mourning his passing are Melissa (James) Smith, Wendye Smith and niece Lorna (Tim) Nolte, and more relatives and friends than can be counted.

A gathering celebrating Harry’s life will be held at the Glen Tavern Inn, 134 N. Mill St., Santa Paula on June 13 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Interment will be private.
