Margaret “Margie” Hernandez
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. On May 28, 2009 she was called home to be with our Lord at the age of 69, after a lengthy illness.Margaret was born October 12, 1939 in Los Angeles, CA to Robert and Manuela Diaz. While growing up mom loved to dance and listen to music. One of her favorite places to go with friends was the American Legion and listen to tunes such as “Memories of el Monte.”Margaret moved to Santa Paula at the age of 17 and made it her lifelong residence. Her passion was her six children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Margaret enjoyed her trips to Vegas, playing bingo, sewing, quilting, fishing with her family and BBQs at Lake Casitas. Our mother had a heart deeper than the ocean, always putting everyone before her. Always making her daily calls to make sure we were all okay. She loved us all in her own special way, and a scolding was an amazing way she showed that she cared.Mom is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Manuela Diaz, as well as her aunt Rita and great grandchild Juan M. Castillo Jr.She is survived by her sons: Paul (Annette) Vera of Santa Paula, Eliazar (Dorothy) Hernandez of Oxnard; daughters: Mary “Flaca” (Gilbert) “Chino” Mora of Santa Paula, Diane (Alex) Ramirez of Santa Paula, Raquel (Jose) Lopez of Bakersfield, Elisa (Carlos) Molina of Santa Paula; sisters, Jenny Arredondo of Colorado, Irene Alvarez and Terry Lujan of Texas, and Mary Porter of Santa Paula; brothers, Bobby Diaz of El Monte, Manuel Diaz of Hemet, Jessie Diaz of Yucaipa, Joey Diaz of Riverside; grandchildren: Paul Vera III of Texas, Angel, Johnny and Mikie Vera of Santa Paula, Eileen, Erika and Gilbert “Gilly” Mora of Santa Paula, Crystal Medina, Sonny, Julian, Alex Jr. and Ceci Ramirez of Santa Paula, Fernando Lara “Pops” and Mario Hernandez of Oxnard, Vanessa Barrios and Andrew Lopez of Bakersfield, Carlos Jr. and Robert “Jay” Molina of Santa Paula; 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, and nephews. The family would like to thank her very dear friend of 17 years, Marika Schilling for her devoted friendship. We would also like to thank Livingston Hospice for their dedicated support.I’m FreeDon’t grieve for me, for now I’m free.I’m following the path God has laid you see.I took His hand when I heard Him call.I turned my back and left it all.I could not stay another day,To laugh, to love, to work or play.Tasks left undone must stay that way.I found that peace at the close of the day.If my parting has left a void,Then fill it with remembered joys.A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,Oh yes, these things I too will miss.Be not burdened with times of sorrow.I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life’s been full, I savored much,Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.Perhaps my time seemed all too brief.Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.Lift up your hearts and peace to thee.
