Congratulations and good luck To the Editor:Last Monday night I went to the council meeting to see Judy Rice, Sandy Easley, Fred Robinson and Jimmy Tovias get sworn in as elected officials. It was a great moment to see this take place: Judy Rice for city clerk, Sandy Easley for city treasurer, Councilman Fred Robinson and Vice Mayor Jimmy Tovias. All together they will make this a great city to live in and to move forward into looking forward to the future for things to come, good things that is. And together they will work together side by side with Councilman Bob Gonzales and Mayor Ralph Fernandez, along with City Manager Wally Bobkiewicz and City Attorney Karl Berger to work things out and they will. I know things will work out for the city of Santa Paula.First of all I know that Judy Rice will make a good city clerk because of her involvement with other city activities here and town. And Sandy will make a good city treasurer because of her years with the city. And Fred will make a good city councilman because of his experience and leadership with the Kiwanis Club, and for working with the Arc of Ventura County and Ventura County. And Jimmy will make a good councilman because of his leadership in business. And the way I see it is that together Judy and Sandy will be known as the lady dynamic duo team of the city of Santa Paula City Council, and Fred and Jimmy, along with Councilman Gabino Aguirre and Mayor Bob Gonzales, Vice Mayor Ralph Fernandez, as well as City Manager Wally Bobkiewicz and City Attorney Karl Berger. You will be known as the magnificent 7 for the city of Santa Paula City Council. So as long as you do a very good job for the city, things will be o.k.I hope that you get the help and support that you need to get the job done. I know you all got my support and help you need, so congratulations and good luck to the four of you and your ventures as city leaders for the city of Santa Paula, okay.John BravoSanta PaulaGood luck and take care and thank you John and RayTo the Editor:To John Procter and Ray Luna, first of all, I want to say good luck in the future for what you, the both of you, do.First of all, John, good luck in your ventures as an electrician and a musician. Ray, good luck also in the future as a real estate agent, and I hope things turn out o.k. for the two of you, and I know that you will do very well in the future. The other is that I want you to take care of yourselves also, because the two of you deserve to be recognized for the work that you did and for what you both accomplished together and as individuals. And lastly, I also want to say thank you for doing a very good job well don as councilmen, mayors and vice mayors. Also, sadly, unfortunately however, I do regret not coming to any of the council meetings and to see the both of you do your jobs as councilmen, but I know you did a very good job. So, on behalf of the city of Santa Paula and its citizens, residents, and the community itself, I just want to say to the two of you, good luck, take care, and thank you from the bottom of my heart for a good job well done, John and Ray. You two deserve it, okay.John BravoSanta PaulaVFW Christmas DinnerTo the Editor:We, the members of the Santa Paula Veterans of Foreign Wars Mercer-Prieto Post 2043, would like to express our sincere appreciation to: Santa Paula Chevrolet, Franks Paint & Hardware, La Cabaña, El Pescador and Familia Diaz for their support. Our Annual VFW Christmas Dinner was held at St Paul’s Episcopal Church, with Pastor Ron Dybvig giving the invocation. All-in-all, an excellent evening with everyone’s greatly appreciated assistance.Thank you all. A very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.Gerald V. OlivasCommander
VFW Post 2043CommendationTo the Editor:I would like to commend the Santa Paula Police, Paramedics, and Fire Departments for their quick response to my emergency at the Christmas Parade. I am sorry I broke up the parade, but they sure showed the city what its departments do and what a valuable asset they are to the community. I thank them all, as my situation could have been so much worse without their quick help and professional care.I also want to thank the concerned citizens, Rosie Lugo and others that I don’t know their names for their assistance and calls for help.Thank you all, this is what Santa Paula is all about! God Bless and a very Merry Christmas!Jody CaudilloSanta PaulaRE: Thank you, too!To the Editor:Mr. Villa, in your letter you state that “Santa Paula is not a ‘pueblito’. Santa Paula is a small town situated in a lovely valley in the United States of America.” I’m not sure where you grew up, but most folks in Santa Paula understand that the term “pueblito” means “small town”. I admire Luzmaria’s letter because she embraces her surroundings, unlike Mr. Castaneda who rejects his surroundings and constantly complains about the problems in his neighborhood. Perhaps this is the reason Mr. Castaneda lost his position to sit on the school board, because he isn’t in the solution enough and instead he seems to be stuck in the problem. It disappoints me that the majority of Santa Paulans are of Mexican descent (72% and rising) and live in denial of the true demographics and history of our city. When are we going to start living in reality?Maria Elena Mendez.Santa PaulaSupport appreciatedTo the Editor:Dear Supporter(s),I am writing you to express my personal appreciation for your recent donations to Santa Paula High School’s Football Program.
