Saturday’s second annual “Moonlight at the Ranch,” this year themed “The Sequel... Hollywood Nights” is shaping up to be a blockbuster, with ticket sales inching towards capacity. The fundraiser to benefit the Santa Paula Police and Fire Foundation as well as Chamber of Commerce activities will premiere August 16 from 5 to 11 p.m. at historic Limoneira Ranch on Cummings Road.
Guest are encouraged to dress Hollywood, whether as a famous star or character of the silver screen or a hope-filled extra, for the party that will feature culinary delights from almost 40 restaurants, liquid libation from dozens of fine wineries, celebrity look-alikes, paparazzi, screaming - maybe even swooning - fans, the Big Band sounds of “Swing Shift” and dancing to the rockin’ “Spirals.”
Portions of Limoneira Ranch are being transformed into a Hollywood studio back lot as well as the scene of a glamorous awards show, red carpet and all. Those who “dress the part” will be eligible to win awards in a variety of categories.
The large volume of early ticket sales doesn’t surprise Chamber of Commerce President/CEO John Blanchard. “People just had so much fun last year” when “Moonlight” had a Wild West theme. “They just remember what it was like... it’s a party that, once attended, is come back to year after year.”
Support for the Santa Paula Police and Fire Foundation also guarantees packing em’ in: “Proceeds from last year’s ‘Moonlight’ provided Jaws of Life for the fire department, Tasers and other equipment for the police department. People in general are very, very supportive of Santa Paula public safety, and ‘Moonlight’ gives them that opportunity to both confirm their support and have a heck of a lot of fun doing so.”
Tickets to “Moonlight at the Ranch: The Sequel... Hollywood Nights” are $60 each in advance, $75 at the door. But, cautioned Blanchard, “Last year it was a sell-out,” drawing more than 850 people, “so don’t hesitate to get your tickets now” at the Chamber of Commerce office (at the historic Depot, corner of 10th and Santa Barbara streets) or the Santa Paula Times (944 E. Main St.). Reservations will also be accepted through Friday by calling the chamber at 525-5561.
With a meteor shower on the horizon Saturday, as well as the full moon, “Everyone will be a star,” said Blanchard, “at ‘Moonlight at the Ranch.’”
