Declaring that the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals-Ventura County (NAHREP-VC) has never been as vital as it is today in assisting consumers and the profession to combat potential fraud in real estate transactions, Cindy Diaz-Telly has been installed president of NAHREP-VC.
Diaz-Telly, a top producer in the Fillmore office of Troop Real Estate, Inc., took office during NAHREP’s recent annual installation event at the Embassy Suites Hotel at Oxnard harbor. Over 200 industry professionals, affiliates, state and county dignataries attended.
Expressing her goals for 2008, Diaz-Telly said:
“NAHREP is important today to the public and the professional real estate community just as when founded in 2002. This year our overriding goal will be to create more awareness in the community and educate consumers in an effort to deter the ever-present potential for fraud in our industry, and what to look for in a transaction as telltale signs of possible fraud.
“We as professionals have a responsibility to our respective communities to rebuild the trust for the homebuying consumers. Through the good works of NAHREP-VC we can become heroes for those who have no sense of hope in these turbulent times.”
In this regard, Diaz-Telly reported a new 211 service established in Ventura County for easy use by consumers who feel they have been misled in their loan transactions. “The community needs to know they have some place to go for help,” she said.
Karen Kurkurin of Governor Schwarzenegger’s office spoke at the installation event and conveyed the governor’s dedication to ending fraudulent real estate practices against the Hispanic community, NAHREP officials reported.
Councilman John Zaragoza, representing the City of Oxnard, presented a proclamation for the outstanding work NAHREP-VC is doing for the industry and community.
Special honors were granted during the event to Francesca Lozano as “Affiliate of the Year” for her dedication to the organization throughout the year, and special thanks were given to the Boys and Girls Club for their generous support.
Corporate sponsors of the event included Wells Fargo Bank, Illumina Mortgage, Chicago Title, Fidelity Title, Troop Real Estate, Inc., and Re/Max Gold Coast REALTORS.
