By Susan BranhamSanta Paula TimesSanta Paula’s Glen Tavern Inn is the place to be when Third Eye Records presents “Pink Ribbon Riot!” Saturday morning, March 29 at 11:30. The concert will feature some rising rock bands, and serve a great cause in the process. Spiders & Snakes, Crash Cutie Crash, and AWOL Star are just of few of the groups that will be performing at the event.Third Eye Records and Management’s Aaron Ortega and Monica De La Torre conceived the idea for the concert, which will help promote a cause they believe in. “The Pink Ribbon Riot is a non-profit event put on by Third Eye Records and Management, in association with Kohli Rock Entertainment and SoCal Musician, to raise awareness for the fight against Breast Cancer,” Aaron explained.“Proceeds will go to the Community Memorial Hospital Breast Center, and for the band that packs in the most fans, they will get to donate a portion of the proceeds to the charity of their choice,” he added. “What’s better than rockin’ out for a good cause?” And tickets are only $5.Aaron and Monica appreciate the enthusiastic support they’ve received from the Santa Paula community for their project. “The support we’ve received from the community has been overwhelming,” he said. “We’re hoping to draw a really good crowd – from kids to teens to adults.”
“I decided to ask some of Southern California’s hottest up-and-coming indie rock bands to play a benefit concert for the cause,” said Aaron. “I was astounded at the positive response I received.” He explained that many musicians responded, “I know someone who has suffered from this. I’d love to play your event.”“We at Third Eye Records and Management encourage all the artists we work with to attach themselves to a non-profit organization or event,” said Aaron.Spiders & Snakes’ performance follows their eighth studio release, “Melodrama.” “North Hollywood’s Crash Cutie Crash will be playing,” Aaron said. “They are one of the hottest and most sought-after up-and-coming bands out there right now. Oxnard’s own juggernaut band, AWOL Star, will also be playing – one of the biggest and most popular bands in the 805 county!”“The Iron Horse will be doing barbeque tri tip and chicken sandwiches and providing refreshments for those that donate for a VIP pass,” said Aaron. “Call all your friends, your girlfriends, your boyfriends, and come see some of SoCal’s hottest indie bands tearing it up. See you there!”For more information logon to www.myspace.com/pinkribbonriot.
