Isbell student wins regional story writing contest

Isbell Middle School student Zoe Appleby recently won the 2007 Regional Story Writing Contest, sponsored by the California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom. Cheryl Phillips, Zoe’s language arts teacher introduced her to the elementary district board at this month’s meeting. Phillips said Zoe did this all on her own, outside of school time. “She competed against about a thousand students in all of California,” she told trustees. “I’m very, very proud of her.” (Above) Board President Gary Marshall gives Zoe a certificate from the board of trustees.
