On March 8, The Universalist Unitarian Church of Santa Paula will open the fifth season of its popular Santa Paula Concert Series with a performance by the eminent American Flamenco guitarist, Robert Boyd.
Boyd, also known as ‘Berto’, is a Santa Barbara resident and one of California’s premiere Flamenco guitarists/composers. A rigorous musician and careful researcher, Berto has studied in Spain and the U.S. with some of the world’s finest virtuosos. His maestros include Guillermo Rios (former guitarist for the infamous Flamenco company of Jose Greco) and Jesus Montoya (Madrid). In the United States, Berto has attended and participated in master classes with Manuel Barrueco and Gaspar Rodriguez, musical director for the National Ballet of Spain.
