Ramon Magdaleno Ramon Magdaleno, 61, of Santa Paula died July 31, 2007 of a sudden illness in Sacramento. Ramon was born December 31, 1945 in Santa Paula to Glafira Del Rio Magdaleno and Ramon Magdaleno Sr., both deceased. Mr. Magdaleno was also predeceased by his sister, Concepcion “Connie” Magdaleno.Ray loved to draw and loved the city of Sacramento, where he lived for the last 20 years. He also enjoyed visiting “Old Town” Sacramento and spending time with family and friends.He is survived by his two daughters, Susanne Magdaleno and Leslie Pulido; grandson Damian Pulido; granddaughters Mia Pulido and Isabella Catalano; his uncles, Jimmy Del Rio of Santa Paula and Rudy Del Rio of Bend, Oregon; his aunt, Teresa Torres of El Rio; and numerous cousins.We would like to especially thank his Tia Tiza, his cousin Romaine Del Rio Daher, and his best friend Albert Vera, who looked out for him all the years he lived in Sacramento.A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 6 at 10 a.m. at St. Sebastian Church in Santa Paula.Mary Esther LowtherMary Esther Lowther passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 19, 2007.Mary was born August 6, 1925 in Long Beach, CA to Joe and Ester O. Hernandez. She attended L.A. Poly Tech High School.During World War II, she worked making seats for airplanes. After the war she worked as a secretary at NSEA. Her last job, and the one she enjoyed most, was at Cal State L.A. as a secretary for 27 years.Mary suffered from rheumatoid arthritis for many years. She loved her toy poodle, and he brought joy to her.Mary is survived by her son Kent and daughter-in-law Mary A. Lowther of Santa Maria; one grandson, Daniel and his wife Kristen of Sacramento; three grandchildren; sister Ada Horton; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.At her request, no services were held. Cremation has taken place.Mary will be missed by all. Any donations can be made in her name to your favorite charities, or to the Arthritis Foundation.Roy Milton FoleyRoy Milton Foley, 49, a resident of Ventura County, passed away on August 19, 2007. Roy was born on January 26, 1958 in Ventura County and was a lifelong resident.Roy was an avid Harley rider, and was full of life.Mr. Foley was preceded in death by Jack Foley, Wanda Foley, Gary Foley, Jackie Foley, and Emerson Millikan. Roy is survived by his son, Nathan Studsman; grandsons, Justin and Jack Studsman; sister Carolyn (husband Rick) Williamson; brothers Jessy (wife Mindy) and Donald (wife Mary); and his beloved friends, David and Debbie Arguelles and their children, whom he cherished. Roy is also survived by five nieces, seven nephews, and many other relatives.At Roy’s request, there is no service planned.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Sheetcraft, 447 S. Steven D. MarceloSteven D. Marcelo, 51, of Los Angeles, passed away suddenly on August 20, 2007 in Los Angeles, and will be deeply missed by his family.Steven was born March 23, 1956 in Santa Paula, where he spent his childhood. He then moved to Los Angeles, where he lived until his death.He loved to play guitar, and enjoyed drawing and writing music. He always had the time to share his many talents with family and friends. He also loved art and photography.Steven was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Luna, and his grandparents, Juan and Petra Cabral. Steven is survived by his mother, Antonia Marcelo; his sons, Steven Marcelo Jr. and Robert Marcelo; his brothers, Raymond Ortega, Louie Serrano, Arthur Marcelo, David Buelna and Joe Luna; his sisters, Kathy Garcia, Elizabeth (husband Frank) Diaz and Tona Luna; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 5 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Funeraria del ángel Stetler Mortuary, 128 S. 8th St., Santa Paula. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m., with Pastor Alberto Luna officiating.Arrangements are under the direction of Funeraria del ángel Stetler Mortuary, 525-5595.Richard “Butch” MooreMay 14, 1937-August 22, 2007Butch Moore was born in Ventura to Yuma and the late Tom “Dude” Moore. He was a resident of Santa Paula for 69 years before moving to Yerington, Nevada.Butch graduated from Santa Paula High School, where he became known as an all star football player. He retired after 38 years as an oil field production foreman for Texaco, Inc. Most remember him enjoying hobbies such as hunting, fishing, camping, and his love for a good BBQ, surrounded by family and friends.Butch was preceded in death by his son, David. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Barbara Moore; son Doug and daughter-in-law Roni; son Don; daughter Jennifer and son-in-law Larry; grandchildren, Danielle and her husband Jonathon, Brian, Mellissa, Kevin and Jessica; great-grandchildren Ainsley and Tiara; sister Linda; sister Alta; and brother Ronnie.James (Nick) MerriettJames (Nick) Merriett, 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 24, 2007 at St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo, with his children by his side. He was born November 25, 1923 in Hampton, Arkansas.James served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army, from 1943 to 1946. He was a Ventura County resident for 44 years. He worked as a spray rig operator for 23 years, and 13 of those years were spent working for Agri-Serv, Inc. James loved his country and western music, making trips to Las Vegas, and spending time with his family.He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Marie, and his parents, F. M. and Rose Merriett. James is survived by his daughter, Jan Buffalohead of Santa Paula; sons, Don Merriett of Santa Paula and Tom Merriett of Modesto; grandchildren, Karen (Art) Gonzales, Michael and Jason Buffalohead, Leona Palmateer, and Bill Stafford; great-grandchildren, Cameo, Samantha and Emma Buffalohead, Alyssa and Miranda Gonzales, Timothy, William and Charles Palmateer, and Zakerie Heslet; brother Harvey (Brenda) Merriett of Camden, Arkansas; sisters, Mae Dunemn of Laughlin, Nevada and Bertie Parker of Camden, Arkansas; brother-in-law Lonnie Griffith; sisters-in-law Frieda Prosser, Edith Hendrix and Irene Shatluck; and numerous nieces and nephews.Visitation was scheduled on Tuesday, August 28 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Funeraria del ángel Stetler Mortuary, 128 S. 8th St., Santa Paula.
