As a public agency, VRSD assures environmentally safe disposal of solid waste, the effective treatment of wastewater and the reliable delivery of potable water at reasonable costs. The District provides services to local water and wastewater agencies and operates the county’s publicly owned landfill.

The Ventura Regional Sanitation District (VRSD) Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Jim Acosta was named VRSD Chairman of the Board for 2006.
The Ventura Regional Sanitation District (VRSD) Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Jim Acosta was named VRSD Chairman of the Board for 2006. Acosta has served the residents of Ventura County for more than 20 years, effectively meeting the needs of a number of area special districts. He was appointed to the VRSD Board of Directors in 1990, representing nine area special districts including Camarillo Sanitary District, Camrosa Water District, Channel Islands Beach Community Services District, Montalvo Municipal Improvement District, Ojai Valley Sanitary District, Saticoy Sanitary District, Triunfo Sanitation District and Ventura County Waterworks No. 1 (Moorpark) and 16 (Piru).Jim Monahan, the representative from the City of San Buenaventura, was selected as Chairman-elect. The Board also includes city council members David Bury (Ojai), Rick Cook (Santa Paula), Charlotte Craven (Camarillo), Dennis Gillette (Thousand Oaks), Jonathan Sharkey (Port Hueneme), Ken Smedley (Fillmore) and John Zaragoza (Oxnard).
