Juveniles arrested for theft of van

Two juveniles, ages 16 and 17, were apprehended December 19 in Santa Paula following the theft of a van from the 500 block of Foothill Road, according to Santa Paula Police Department spokesperson Sergeant Michael Saviers.

Two juveniles, ages 16 and 17, were apprehended December 19 in Santa Paula following the theft of a van from the 500 block of Foothill Road, according to Santa Paula Police Department spokesperson Sergeant Michael Saviers.Police responded to a report of the stolen Chevrolet van Monday morning a little before 8 a.m., and a determination was made that the van may have been unlocked at the time of the theft. About two and a half hours later, police were sent to the 900 block of Loma Vista Place concerning the possible theft of recyclables. Information indicated that suspects were in a van matching the description of the van stolen earlier from Foothill.Upon arrival of the police at Loma Vista Place, suspects fled the van, confirmed to be the stolen vehicle, and attempted to leave the area. A perimeter was set up, and both subjects were apprehended, the 17-year-old after being taken down by K-9 Evan, teamed with Sr. Officer Jim Fogata.
Following the arrest, the 16-year-old was released to family, and the 17-year old was transported to Ventura County Juvenile Hall for numerous charges after being treated by medical personnel for a dog bite.
