Pacific Agribusiness Alliance invites you to a Spring Ag Tour on Friday, April 29. The tour begins at 7:15 a.m. with the bus arriving at the Esplanade parking lot, 500 Esplanade Dr., Oxnard (near tennis courts). Coffee and continental breakfast will be available.At 8 a.m. the bus will depart for Ever-Bloom, Inc. in Carpinteria. The Ever-Bloom Nursery is mainly a gerbera nursery, with a few square feet of anthurium, marketing to the traditional wholesaler who in turn markets to retail florist shops. Ever-Bloom, Inc. is the largest hydroponic grower of gerbera in the United States. The company is owned and operated by Eduard Van Wingerden.The next stop will be Westland Floral Company, a diversified nursery operation growing primarily chrysanthemums, orchids and gerberas. Westland Floral Company markets to large supermarket chains, providing value added products, mainly bouquets. The company is owned and operated by brothers Case and Jerry Van Wingerden.
From Westland Floral Company the tour will proceed to the Carpinteria Lions Park and Event Center, where a Santa Maria style barbecue will be served. At 1 p.m. the tour departs the park and returns to the Esplanade parking lot.Reservations for the tour are $50 for members and $55 for non-members.
