Limoneira Fresh, 3,200 square foot open-air/enclosed farmers’ market, will debut at the Limoneira Mercantile in Santa Paula on March 5.

Limoneira Fresh, 3,200 square foot open-air/enclosed farmers’ market, will debut at the Limoneira Mercantile in Santa Paula on March 5. The store is selling high-end farm fresh fruit, nuts and vegetables, half of which is grown on Limoneira’s farms and ranches in southern and central CaliforniaLimoneira Fresh is a division of Limoneira Company, 112 year-old Santa Paula land, farming and food company. “Limoneira Company has been producing quality fresh fruit for more than a century,” says Sarah Skeels, manager of Limoneira Fresh. “Our products are sold in stores throughout the world. Limoneira Fresh gives us the opportunity to sell our high quality products directly to consumers for the very first time.”A 300-square foot flower shop, Natural Beauty Flowers, is in Limoneira Fresh. Operated by Santa Paula resident, Barbara Kroon, the shop features locally grown flowers from growers from the central coast. “Barbara’s personal sense of style, along with the creativity she brings to her floral arrangements, will be a tremendous asset to Limoneira Fresh and will greatly enhance the total experience for our customers,” says Skeels.To assure freshness of their products, Skeels says they will order perishable products in small quantities. “Less inventory means our products won’t spend days in freezers and cold storage,” explains Skeels.Limoneira Company raises its own bees to pollinate its fruit trees. A Limoneira “Honey Hut” at Limoneira Fresh will feature live bees working on their honeycomb. Fresh honey and beeswax candles from Limoneira’s bees will be sold at the store.
Limoneira Fresh also sells more than 20 types of gourmet gift packs filled with farm fresh fruits and nuts and Brazilian-grown premium coffee. They include “Pride of Ventura County,” containing four premium large Hass avocados, four premium oranges and four premium lemons ($19.95); boxes of pistachios ($9.95 each) and a “Sports Fan’s Delight” with large Hass avocados, Lisbon lemons, limes and packets of Mission guacamole mix ($18.95 to $22.95). “Some of our gift packs also include Oro Blanco grapefruit, Satsuma mandarins, Navel oranges and Moro blood oranges,” says Skeels.The gift packs are shipped throughout the country.
